A frosty start

Now that there's little to be doing down on the plot, I took advantage of a glorious morning and set off across the fields, armed with my camera, hoping to catch a few decent shots before the sun had melted away the frost.
After a very welcome bacon buttie for breakfast, it was time to complete the onion pickling. Another job on my list is to make my Christmas cake. I always have good intentions - I promise myself every year that I will make it in October - it never happens. Last year's cake was a bit of a disaster. Instead of sticking to one of my tried and trusted recipes I went all out with a rather fancy one, which included chocolate in the recipe. I might have guessed - it was pretty awful. I couldn't even bring myself to eat it with custard! For the first time ever, a large part of it went into the bin.
Just had a mail from our youngest son who is, after two days in Athens, spending the rest of the week working on Cyprus. I'm jealous - he'd just enjoyed a lovely Greek salad - and the temperature there was 25 degrees. It's been a pretty cold day here, and especially now that the sun has gone down, and we are looking forward to tucking into some warming jacket potatoes.
