Loving the snow!

Yes,  honestly - I really do love the snow, and I'm enjoying being out in it.  Walked over to play with my grandchildren the other day, building an igloo and snowballing in their garden.  I'm quite tempted to build a snowman in my front garden, but it seems a shame to spoil the pristine mounds of white snow.  I've had offers, by kind neighbours, to clear my drive, but I'd rather it stayed as it is.  I really don't see the point - I don't have a car and if I'm going out I wear boots.  My neighbour has made a very thorough job of clearing the whole frontage of his house twice and, as  I suspect, there will be more snow on the way, so he had better keep his shovel handy.  Besides, the cleared areas tend to be very slippery.

Went out with the walking club a week ago, for a local walk in the Aldridge area.  There was some footpath walking, which gave us the chance to walk and talk, instead of concentrating the whole time on where we were putting our feet as we have had to do over the past months - what with the wet and muddy conditions.  This time, however, it was crisp and frosty and very beautiful, especially in Hay Head Wood, which looked like Narnia.

Since then, I've had my sister and husband staying with me for a few days.  We crammed in as much as we could, considering she wasn't  feeling too well (it turned out to be bronchitis).  As we didn't want to venture far, we went to Kingsbury Water Park, and meandered around the lakes and along the riverside.  On another day, we went into Birmingham on the train to visit the art gallery and museum.  My sis has been studying the fabrics in the pre-Raphelite paintings in her art class back home, so this was a good opportunity to see some first-hand examples, as well as looking at the wonderful Staffordshire hoard. So, after travelling back to snowy County Durham, they should now be in the Cairngorms! Don't know how snowy it is there.

Been for a walk down the fields and taken a few photos.  Hoping to include some, but if not I will do so with my next Blog, as I'm hoping to keep up with blogging a bit more regularly.  After all, after the snow (or maybe between it) I should be getting in some work down on the plot, and in the garden, if I get the opportunity.  Let's hope this will be a better year for us gardeners.
