Serious problems on the railways today. The signalling system had gone down at Proofhouse Junction (the Spaghetti Junction of the railways). Our journey to the QE ended suddenly, just a few stations down the line, when the train came to a halt and we were told of the problems. A couple of phone calls later, and our lovely friends D & D came to our rescue, by picking us up in their car, and driving us back to the station where we'd left our car. We then drove to the hospital for M's treatment. Rang A, to let him know of the situation, as he would need to make alternative arrangements to get home to Lichfield. M had also rung the hospital to explain the situation, and that he would be late.
Soon on our way back, calling in at Lidl en route, to pick up some bits and bobs and wine, as D & D will be calling round this evening. I sniffled and snuffled all the way back - feeling a bit groggy, with a cold.
It's K & A's Wedding Anniversary today and we had a short phone call from K. They were off for a meal, but had enjoyed their day skiing (County Durham). It's been another very cold day, and it looks like we are in for more freezing conditions and snow, this weekend. In one part of Scotland it got to -23 degrees.
Enough for now as D & D have arrived.
