No photos this time. Things are improving regards Mike. We seem to have spent hours travelling to the QE and back on the train, and attending various clinics. Fortunately his brain scan showed nothing untoward, but he is now in the process of changing over to a different drug to prevent any further siezures and, at the moment, until this drug takes over completely, he is also still on the first one too. We returned to the Oncology clinic only to find that his body scan results were not yet available so lets hope all is OK regarding his secondary tumours. By now we are feeling much less anxious and life is returning (more or less) to normal - again.
We even made an extra train journey - this time to Birmingham to see the Da Vinci exhibition at the Gas Hall. Although there are only a few exhibits it was well worth the visit. We queued for a short while (indoors), but once inside the gallery we were able to get up really close to the drawings of this genius, and to spend plenty of time taking in the fine, and sometimes minute, details. In some respects I prefer to see the rough (!) sketches of the artists, rather than the heavily worked and perfect end results. As the Staffordshire Hoard exhibition was in a neighbouring gallery, we spent some time in there too. Although here, too, there are just a few items from the huge haul, this time we could spend some quality time inspecting each one, as there were just a handful of people there, unlike our first visit, when we queued for over three hours. It was quite a bonus that there was, unknown to us at the time, a programme about the hoard on the TV the following evening. I live in hopes that, during one of my walks, I might come across something of archaeological interest. To date it's only been flint tools, bits of clay pipe, and the contents of bottle dumps.
I was hoping to make another visit to the plot, but I've been a bit busy preparing for Mike's forthcoming 70th birthday party. He has invited 80 guests, so I am relieved that, this time, I am not doing the catering! Fortunately, too, some of our long-distance visitors will be staying at local hotels, so I won't have any overnight guests at the house. I'm really looking forward to a 'do'. We've had some pretty tough times over the past six years, but we try to make the best of the good times, - and we still know how to party. So, I'm hoping to get some really good photos for my next blog.
